Japan-Tanzania Business Forum

  1. On July 4th, the Embassy of Japan in Tanzania in collaboration with JICA Tanzania Office, Tanzania Ministry of Industry and Trade (MIT) and Trade Development Authority (TANTRADE) organized a Japan-Tanzania Business Forum as part of the Japan-Tanzania Business Environment Improvement Committee (Business Dialogue).
 
  1. The Forum was held on the occasion of the Japan Day of the 48th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (commonly known as Saba Saba) and was attended by 108 participants from Japanese and Tanzanian companies, including those who exhibited at the Japan Zone in the Saba Saba venue.
 
  1. At the Forum, Hon. Kiyoto Tsuji, State Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, delivered a video message on behalf of the Japanese government. Ambassador Misawa, Ms. Khamis, Director General of TANTRADE, Ms. Mwimbwa, Assistant Director External Trade of MIT, Mr. Ara, Chief Representative of JICA Tanzania Office, and Mr. Kisanga, Executive Director of Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (TCCIA), also delivered their remarks.
 
  1. 10 Japanese companies (Sumitomo Corporation, TOPPAN Digital /TANJA Farm, COTS COTS Ltd., Ebara Pump East Africa, UPDATOR Inc., Japan Tanzania Medical Instrument Co. Ltd., Borderless Tanzania Ltd., Darajapan Inc. and Courier Mate) gave presentations introducing their businesses, followed by active exchanges and business matching with the Tanzanian companies in attendance. The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Nairobi Office introduced the general trade situation between the two countries, JICA Tanzania Office introduced JICA projects, and TANTRADE, Tanzania Investment Center (TIC) and Zanzibar Investment Promotion Agency (ZIPA) gave presentations on trade and investment promotion.
 
  1. It is hoped that this forum will strengthen the partnership between Japanese and Tanzanian companies and promote trade and investment between the two countries.
