On 2nd July 2026, a Handing-over Ceremony for “The Project for the Construction of a Classroom Block and the Improvement of Sanitation Environment at Orng’adida Primary School in Babati District, Manyara Region” was held at the school under the scheme of the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects (GGP).

Orng’adida Primary School, a public institution established in 1978, accommodates 1,008 students. The school had been facing a significant shortage of classrooms, and its toilets were outdated and in poor condition. This resulted in poor sanitation and made it difficult for students to study in a healthy environment. In addition, the funds available to the school were not sufficient to construct new classrooms or rehabilitate the existing facilities. In response to a request from So They Can Tanzania, the Government of Japan provided grant aid of USD 109,203 (approximately TZS 269 million) to support a project to construct three classrooms, three toilet blocks for boys, girls, and teachers, as well as two water towers at Orng’adida Primary School, forming an enabling learning environment. The project also provided school furniture, including 60 sets of desks and chairs for students and three sets of desks and chairs for teachers. Through these interventions, the learning and sanitation environment at the school has been significantly improved. The newly constructed facilities are expected to alleviate classroom overcrowding and promote proper sanitation practices, benefiting 1,008 students (503 girls and 505 boys) and approximately 20 staff members.
