Handing-over Ceremony for the Project for the Construction of a Classroom Block at Sakura Girls’ Secondary School in Arusha District, Arusha Region
2025/10/1

1. On 27th September, a ceremony was held at Sakura Girls’ Secondary School to mark the handover of the classroom block provided through “the Project for the Construction of a Classroom Block for Advanced Level at Sakura Girls’ Secondary School in Arusha District, Arusha Region” under the scheme of the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGHSP).
2. The school was inaugurated in 2016 through the scheme of Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects. Since then, the school has been providing quality education of ordinary level for girl students. Especially, the students’ scores in STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) have been outstanding. In addition, the school has been keeping a good relationship with Japanese companies and educational institutions. Although there was clear demand from students and parents for advanced level studies at Sakura Girls’ Secondary School, the school lacked sufficient resources to construct the necessary facilities. In response, the Government of Japan provided grant aid of US Dollars 140,103 (approximately Tsh 364 million) for the construction of a new classroom block, enabling students to continue their education to advanced level at Sakura Girls’ Secondary School. The graduates are expected to contribute to Tanzania’s development – in particular in STEM fields – and to keep a good relationship with Japan after the graduation.
