On October 22nd, 2025, the Embassy of Japan held a signing ceremony for the Project for the Construction of a Classroom Block and the Improvement of Sanitation Environment at Orng’adida Primary School in Babati District, Manyara Region.

The Government of Japan agreed to extend a grant aid of up to US$ 109,203 to the above project under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGHSP) scheme.

The Project for the Construction of a Classroom Block and the Improvement of Sanitation Environment at Orng’adida Primary School in Babati District, Manyara Region: up to US$ 109,203 (approximately 275 million Tsh)

  • Orng’adida Primary School, a public institution established in 1978, currently accommodates 1,014 students. However, the school is facing a significant shortage of classrooms, and its toilets are outdated and in poor condition. This has caused poor sanitation and made it challenging for students to study in a healthy environment. It also turned out that the funds that the school has been able to secure are not sufficient to repair or build new classrooms and toilets.
  • Therefore, in response to an application from the recipient of this project, So They Can Tanzania, the Government of Japan will support a project to construct one classroom block with three classrooms, three toilet blocks for boys, girls, and teachers, and two water towers at Orng’adida Primary School. The project will also provide school supplies, including 60 desks and chairs for students and 3 sets of desks and chairs for teachers. This will help reduce classroom overcrowding and ensure proper use of the toilets. Overall, it will significantly improve the learning and sanitation environment for 1,014 students and about 20 staff, creating a healthier and more supportive setting for primary education in the region.
