1. On 12th December, a ceremony was held at Kagera Secondary School to mark the handover of the dormitory provided through “the Project for the Construction of a Girls’ Dormitory Block at Kagera Secondary School in Missenyi District, Kagera Region” under the scheme of the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGHSP).

2. Japan granted USD 101,969 to MAPEC (Missenyi Aids & Poverty Eradication Crusade) for construction of a girls’ dormitory in order to improve the environment of the school. More than half of the students walked over 10km to go to school every day. This long commute caused lack of concentration during classes and especially girl students were at risk of harassment on the way. This project will solve those issues and benefit 120 girl students.
