For those who are returning to Japan or entering Japan from abroad
・New entry of foreign nationals from all over the world is suspended
・Japanese nationals and other residents in Japan may return, but those from countries and regions designated by the Japanese government will be required to stay in accommodations※
Currently, due to these strict measures, it takes time to complete quarantine and other
procedures at arrival airports. For this reason, it may take some time before we can guide
you to your accommodations.
※The length of stay will be 3, 6, or 10 days, depending on the risk in the designated countries and regions.
After leaving the accommodation, you will be required to stay at home until the 10thday（Instead of 10days, “14days” will apply if you are entering Japan from countries or regions stated by “the new measure (25) regarding boarder control”） after entering Japan.
This accommodation will be secured by the quarantine office.
Important Notice
In order to enter Japan, regardless of nationality, you will need to do the following
-Presentation of inspection certificate (COVID Test)
You are required to present a certificate of inspection within 72 hours before leaving the country.
After March 19, 2021, if you are unable to present the certificate, you will not be allowed to land in Japan based on the Quarantine Law.
- Quarantined in the accommodation of the government, Submission of a written pledge
Depending on the countries and regions in which you stayed, you will be required to stay in the accommodation of the government, and be tested.
You will be asked to pledge not to use public transportation for 10 days（Instead of 10days, “14days” will apply if you are entering Japan from countries or regions stated by “the new measure (25) regarding boarder control” ）, to stay at home or in accommodation, to save and present your location information, and to install a contact confirmation application etc.. If you violate the pledge, in addition to being subject to suspension measures based on the Quarantine Law, you may be subject to the following
(1)If you are Japanese, your name and information that may contribute to the prevention of the spread of infection may be publicized.
(2)If you are a resident status holder, your name, nationality, and information that may contribute to the prevention of the spread of infection may be publicized. You may also be subject to revocation of your status of residence and deportation proceedings.
-Carrying a smartphone and installing necessary applications
In order to carry out the pledges in the written pledge, you need to have a smartphone that can use the necessary applications (e.g., showing location information). If you do not own a smartphone or if you own a smartphone that does not allow the installation of necessary apps, please rent a smartphone at the airport at your expense upon arriving in Japan.
-Submission of Questionnaire
Contact information such as email address and phone number will be confirmed at the time of quarantine for health follow-up during the first 10 days（Instead of 10days, “14days” will apply if you are entering Japan from countries or regions stated by “the new measure (25) regarding boarder control” ） after entry.
-Submission of a copy of vaccination certificate (Optional)
If you submit a copy of a valid vaccination certificate at the time of entry into Japan, 3-day waiting period in the accommodation of the government will be exempt, and part of the 14-day waiting period after entry will be shortened. Vaccination certificates must meet the requirements. Please be sure to check the details.
