Condolences for the 3rd Phase President Benjamin William Mkapa

Mr. GOTO Shinichi, Ambassador of Japan sends his condolences for the demise of the President benjamin William Mkapa.
I am deeply saddened by the death of the 3rd Phase President Benjamin William Mkapa. On behalf of the Government of Japan, I would like to send my sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, and the people of Tanzania for their loss of the great leader and conscience of the country.
Late President Mkapa was a close friend to Japan, and one of the five members of the Core Group of the Meeting of the Eminent Persons Group on Peace and Stability in Africa that was co-hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Japan and the Nippon Foundation in Tokyo in 2018. The Embassy of Japan worked closely with the Benjamin Mkapa Foundation on the Human Security projects. The great contribution that late President Mkapa made to further promote the friendship between Japan and the United Republic of Tanzania will be respectfully remembered by the people in the two countries.
May his soul rest in peace.
