2023/3/1
On February 24th , Japan’s National Day Celebration took place at the residence of the Japanese Ambassador to the United Republic of Tanzania. It was to celebrate His Majesty the Emperor’s 63rd birthday on February 23. The Reception was held for the first time in three years, attended by Hon. Dr. Damas Ndumbaro, Minister for Constitution and Legal Affairs on behalf of the Tanzanian Government as the Guest of Honor, and approximately 160 people from various institutions including the Tanzanian Government, embassies, international organizations and private sectors.
In his opening remarks, Ambassador Misawa stated that, regarding the invasion of Ukraine by Russia and series of missile launches by North Korea, any attempt to change the status quo by force must not be tolerated, and that Japan, together with the international community, is committed to contributing to a safe and prosperous world, as the chair country of the G7 and a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council. He also commended the Tanzanian Government's 4R (Reconciliation, Resilience, Reform and Rebuild) policy under the leadership of President Samia Suluhu Hassan and expressed his desire to continue to further strengthen Japan-Tanzania relations.
At the event, we provided opportunities to the guests to deepen their understanding of Japanese culture with various videos on Japanese culture and technology, exhibitions by Japanese companies in Tanzania and Japanese cuisine served by Mr. Nagafuchi, an official chef of the Ambassador’s residence. In addition, “COTS COTS LTD”, which operates a Japanese restaurant “Yamasen” in Uganda, kindly dispatched Mr. Yoshifumi Yamaguchi, Head Chef of Yamasen, to demonstrate how to cut a big tuna fish into pieces for sushi.
