On 13rd May, 2015, the Government of Japan and the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania signed the Exchange of Notes for the Japanese Grant Projects (below).

The Project for Improvement of Tazara Intersection (Phase3)

The Government of Japan expand a total amount of grant up to five billion one hundred and ninety-five million Japanese Yen (JPY 5,195,000,000), approximately seventy seveb billion three hundred and fifty million Tanzanian Shillings (Tsh 77,350,000,000), by adding one billion seven hundred and twenty-two million Japanese Yen (JPY 1,722,000,000), approximately twenty five billion six hundred and thirty nine million Tanzanian Shillings (Tsh 25,639,000,000).

The expansion of the grant aims at addressing the shortage in budget caused by the fluctuation of foreign exchange rates and price increase of materials.
