    “Support to the Tanzanian efforts in poverty reduction”

    On June 16, 2014, in Dodoma, H.E. Mr. Masaki Okada, Ambassador of Japan to the United Republic of Tanzania, and Hon. Ms. Saada Mkuya Salum, Minister for Finance of the United Republic of Tanzania, exchanged the Notes.

    Japanese Yen Loan to support the co-financing for the Eleventh Poverty Reduction Support Credit (PRSC-11) amounts to 1.5 billion Japanese Yen (equivalent to approximately 24.1 billion Tanzanian Shillings).

    This assistance will be implemented in line with the General Budget Support (GBS) framework in Tanzania, aiming to further accelerate the Tanzanian Government’s efforts in poverty reduction and economic growth for the people in Tanzania.

    During the signing ceremony in Dodoma, Minister Ms. Salum highly commended Japan’s support through GBS provided by concessional loans. GBS is regarded as a preferred modality by the Government of Tanzania.
